The memorial service for beloved Angelo State administrator Paul “Buddy” Horne will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 3, 2020 at Johnson Street Church of Christ with Dr. Tommy King officiating.
Year Horne attended San Angelo College after his graduation from Lohn High School in 1953, and was a force to be reckoned with, as he assumed a leadership role at the school as early as his freshman.
In February 1954, Horne ended up being chosen as you of three college favorites, and a write-up he was a standout football and basketball player for his hometown about him mentions.
The reporter ended up being told by him he had been learning to become an advisor.
Relating to a Standard-Times article about five SAC pupil being known as into the Who’s whom in American Junior Colleges a couple of months later on, Horne is mentioned as having gotten three athletic letters that 12 months.
The young athlete was featured in an article announcing he would be transferring to Abilene Christian College in the fall, having “left a great record behind him” at SAC, pointing out the fact that his athletic feats were all the more impressive as Horne was short-of-stature, standing 5-foot 6-inches tall and weighing in at 145 pounds on May 19 of the following year.
